DIY: Shortcuts

Following to my previous post another registry change in order to improve the way windows works and to descrease your irritation ;-).

This is a post that will work for windows 7 or windows Vista. Did you notice that each time you create a new shortcut the text SHORTCUT appears before the name of the program? Do did it I, very useless I think. Let’s make sure that does not happen again…

Open the registry editor again (I don’t think I need to explain this again, right? ;-)) and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer.
In the right hand screen you can find a key with is named “LINK” (like in the game, indeed). The default value of this key is 1e 00 00 00. Change it to 00 00 00 00.

Close the registry editor, log off and log back in. Newly created shortcuts won’t state the obvious any longer ;-)…
