Windows on Speed

As you may or may not know. Microsoft is working on it’s next devil’s spawn operating system. Very logically called Windows 8 (may change during the process).

One of the most discussed topics concerning the new windows operating system is the fast boot time. Microsoft went back to the drawing board  for the windows booting system and came up with something that can take the pc from shutdown state to the windows start screen in about 10 seconds.

This is thanks to the new hybrid system which mixes processes used in cold boots and hibernation mode. There is a blogpost (made my microsoft) which shows of this feature and gives away some fancy graphs and numbers about the shutdown behaviour of us  humans.

Check it out here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2011/09/08/delivering-fast-boot-times-in-windows-8.aspx

Let me know what you think (personally I’m a little sceptical, but okay ;-))
